Council 93 Website Named Website of the Month for September 2003

The Council 93 website has been named "Website of the Month" for September 2003 by the Massachusetts Web Steward, the online newsletter of Union Web Services.

Over the past several months Council 93 has been working to improve the content and visual appeal of our website. If you visit our site regularly, you’ve undoubtedly noticed some of the major changes to the site, which include but are not limited to:

  • Regular updating of the "What’s New" section to include coverage of current issues of interest to AFSCME members.
  • The ability to register online as a "Council 93 Cyber Activist," which will help us collect e-mail addresses of members so we can distribute important information more efficiently.
  • Online availability of our newspaper - The 93 News
  • The ability to listen to recent AFSCME radio campaigns denouncing the policies and practices of Republican Governor Mitt Romney
  • A visually appealing and user-friendly restructuring of our homepage

We are pleased that our hard work has received formal recognition. Thanks to all who provided the suggestions and feedback that led to many of the improvements of the site. Be sure to visit often and tell your union colleagues to visit as well.

Council 93 Wins International Communications Award

Council 93’s Department of Legislation, Political Action and Communication is pleased to announce that we have received an Honorable Mention from the International Labor Communications Association AFL-CIO for graphics work related to a successful campaign to stop the privatization of towing services in the City of Boston.

The award was presented for a mock parking ticket that was placed on automobiles around the city to call attention the problems and phony cost savings associated with privatizing public services.
