Maine State Workers Vote to Stay with AFSCME Council 93
We are happy to inform you that the results of the decertification election are in:
Our members voted 383 to 265 in favor of AFSCME!
We have a lot of work to do as we move into the future. We need your continued cooperation and commitment to work together to improve your ability to provide an invaluable service to the State of Maine. It is only through strengthening your local unions in mental health and corrections that we can push for the compensation and recognition you all deserve.
This process has been an education for AFSCME Council 93 staff and our members. We have learned how crucial communication is to this organization. Improving communication between staff, union officers, and the membership will be a central goal as we continue servicing our local unions. To accomplish this goal we need the help of all of our members, both the opposition supporters and AFSCME supporters. We look forward to hearing more of your ideas and using them to improve your union.
Should you feel your attempts to work with the Augusta office are not successful in the future, please remember that you are the union and your voice counts. However, you always have the option of calling the Field Service Director in the Boston office of Council 93 at (617) 367-6015 or AFSCME’s International offices in Washington D.C.
